Alaska and Idaho

Wendy is an advisor to The Wild Gift, an organization dedicated to providing a compelling deep wilderness experience to exceptional leaders and the support to launch a self-designed project that promotes the stewardship of wild nature and development of sustainable communities.  In this role Wendy helped lead a three-week educational backpacking and river rafting adventure in the Wrangell St. Elias National Park in Alaska (summer 2003), and treks into the Boulder-White Clouds of Idaho (summers 2006 and 2009).  Treks are focused on building leadership skills, collaboration and communication, and provide curriculum on various topics related to sustainability.  As part of this program, Wendy has helped mentor several students with projects aimed at greening inner-city housing projects, designing a network of private protected areas in Chile, and providing training for advocates for sustainability.
